About 15 years ago, after much thought, research and conversations with many, through what I could only say was divinely inspired, I decided to embark on a new career in dogs and opened Takara Kennels. My daughters and I raised and shown a rare breed of Japanese Chin and White Pekinese, which led to my building of a private Boarding Kennel on our property and helping to establish a no-kill rescue group for Stokes County. This all led to me meeting a lovey woman and Master Groomer, Linda, who had heard of me through my rescue efforts. She took me under her wing and taught me how to be a professional groomer for all breeds. She trained me extensively, for almost a year, mostly at my home based Kennel/Shop but also going to dog shows with me. When Linda retired the following year, she sold me her equipment as well as placing her entire clientele with me. I owned and operated Takara Kennels, teaching myself and my girls valuable skills in business lessons and gaining skills in handling, showing and grooming for over 7 years. Well life goes on, I've made several career changes since but my passions and drive has brought me back and the need has never been greater!
